Three pages ms by Charles Jerningham: “My recollections of St. Albans connect themselves with agreeable visits to the late Lord Frederick Beauclerk, who was Vicar of St. Michael’s….The old abbey is a wondrous, vast, rambling, deserted looking structure wherein one perceives and feels that the departed spirit of the ancient faiht has left but a desolate wreck behind”.
