Originally the letter enclosed a Bill of Lading for goods acquired on the Grand Tour including a coral-handled paper cutter, two pairs of coral and gold earrings with a gold brooch, a china extinguisher from Carlsbad, a green glass table seal from Prague, a pair of Persian socks and a marble and papier-mache model of the Parthenon with an inlaid mosaic cross of St. Sofia.
