The Historystore archive comprises some 20,000 historical documents such as invoices, menus, newspapers, writing paper etc.
Since these were not intended for permanent retention, they were seldom thought important enough to be preserved in institutional collections.

Our stock concentrates upon the period 1750 to 1920 and we intend eventually to have all the documents available for view on the web. This will enable you to access a work or subject area of interest.

Our aim is to make accessible a wide range of social and commercial ephemera, through images, merchandise and information.

Social ephemera provides a unique insight into everyday life in past centuries. In the days before photography, the engraved image is often the only visual record of the time; what did a town, street or a factory look like, how were products made and transported, who bought what and for how much?

Historystore can help you find the answers to these and many other questions.
