The Historystore archive comprises some 20,000 historical images taken mainly from transient documents such as invoices, menus, newspapers, writing paper etc.
Since these were not intended for permanent retention, they were seldom thought important enough to be preserved in institutional collections.

Our archive concentrates upon the period 1750 to 1920 and we aim to have eventually all images available for view on the web. This will enable you to access a work or subject area of interest.
