Description Trade card printed with decorative border in blue printer’s type by Bowman of Richmond for G. Martin thanking patrons for their custom during his twelve years at the Morritt Arms and now soliciting custom for his new inn. The card advises that ‘The Glasgow Royal Mail leaves the above Inn for the South at Half past One o’clock in the Morning; and for the North at Half-past Eleven o’clock at Night’. On the reverse is printed ‘The Traveller’s Posting Guide from London to Carlisle’ listing the towns, inns, innkeepers and mileage. It is unusual for a trade card to be this explicit about Royal Mail Coach timetables. *** (tiny nick in top margin) |
