Invoice with ms insertions from Wascoe with engraved arms and church at head signed on reverse by Ellen Wascoe. The bill includes 3/6 for ‘Toll Gate for Fly’. The Royal Mail between London and Manchester called here as did the “Defiance” to London and the “John Bull” to Chester. *** (small filing hole)

The inn name has been carefully deleted and the bill suggests that it had become a wine & spirit merchant by this date, possibly remaining as an Inland Revenue Office ** (minor ageing and small filing hole)
